What kind of preparation, how do we prepare a person, for interdisciplinarity?...Ontology and self knowledge come to mind...

Arnold,
thanks for your comment and question. I think that one way to begin to "do" interdisciplinarity is to explore a question or questions or an issue or set of issues from a variety of disciplinary and subdisciplinary approaches and find ways to connect these approaches with each other so that they complement each other, build on each other, extend the reach of one another, and so on. That's sort of what happens in my work, though I think my work is philosophy. I take claims and ideas from an assortment of areas in philosophy and combine them with writing from other fields.
