As most of you now know, the influential feminist scholar Sara Ahmed recently resigned from her post as Professor of Race and Cultural Studies and Director of the Centre for Feminist Research at Goldsmiths, University of London, due to the institution's response to sexual harassment. Thankfully, Ahmed will continue to work in other arenas.
Ahmed will give the Keynote Address at the 2017 philoSOPHIA conference to be held at Florida Atlantic University in Boca Raton, Florida, from March 30-April 1, 2017.
The theme of this year's conference---"Affect and Social Justice"---honours the legacy of Teresa Brennan, who, before her untimely death in 2003, was Schmidt Distinguished Professor of Humanities at FAU and author of—among other books—The Transmission of Affect and Globalization and Its Terrors.
I will speak at the conference in a plenary with Myisha Cherry and Devonya Havis. A general CFP for the conference will circulate soon.
