Back to Basics: Escaping from Bottom Side Control
Jiu Jitsu: Old and New

Back to Basics: Class from 3/23/15

My friend, training partner, and now instructor (Michael Sanda--a black belt under Scott Devine) is in the process of opening a new gym here on James Island in Charleston, SC (more details coming soon)! While we wait on the renovations to the new space, we've been doing some early morning rolling for the past few weeks.  Last night was the first time we've had an informal beginner's class. In an effort to improve the learning experience for the students, I thought that each Monday, I would try to find some video instructionals that cover some of the techniques we went over in class.  Last night, we covered the following techniques: (a) scissor sweep, (b) butterfly sweep, (c) stack pass, and (d) single under pass. While I couldn't find any videos for (d), I found some good stuff for (a)-(c)--even if they cover slightly different versions of what we covered in class (with slightly different details). So, check them out, learn, and go train!

p.s.  For anyone interested in joining us, we meet in the mornings at 8:30 on MWF and we meet in the evenings at 6:00 on MW (with a beginner's class on M and rolling on W).  The address is 327 Folly Road.
